Vietnamese Unicorn Chooses VinCSS FIDO2 to Secure Service Provider Infrastructure

Vietnam’s tech unicorn, MoMo, has recently implemented the VinCSS internationally standardized FIDO2 solution for robust passwordless authentication. This move enhances infrastructure security and optimizes the user experience for internal employees.

MoMo Enhances Infrastructure Security and Optimizes Internal User Experience With VinCSS FIDO2

MoMo remains the leader in the Vietnamese fintech market and is one of the fastest-growing super fintech applications worldwide. A key factor in their success is a solid service delivery infrastructure, safeguarded by the most advanced security technologies.

To enhance security mechanisms and protect its information systems, MoMo has just implemented VinCSS’s internationally standardized FIDO2 solution.

Mr. Ngo Viet Phuong Khoa, Director of Information Technology Infrastructure at MoMo, shared: “In the face of rising cyber-attacks and ransomware threats, we chose FIDO2 for its high security. Moreover, FIDO2 enhances user convenience and integrates with multiple system administration tools. Our level 3 infrastructure administration team, including System, Network, DBA, Operation, and Security, benefits greatly from FIDO2’s security, from physical security keys to synchronized keys.”

Strong Authentication Without Passwords

With FIDO2 technology, MoMo’s internal users will use Passkeys for authentication instead of passwords. MoMo’s internal system currently supports two types of Passkeys:

Synced Passkeys

Devices like phones, computers, and tablets can become security keys. After registering for authentication using a synced passkey, users can log in by scanning their faces, pressing their fingerprints, or entering a PIN on their mobile devices.

VinCSS FIDO2 Physical Security Keys

These small hardware devices connect via USB, Bluetooth, or NFC. For accounts with critical access, such as system and server administrator accounts, physical keys are used as the highest security measure.

MoMo allows internal users to use both types of keys. Each employee is equipped with a VinCSS FIDO2 physical key, in addition to the synced passkey support.

VinCSS’s FIDO2 ecosystem provides comprehensive security options, from physical security keys to synchronized keys on users’ devices. VinCSS is one of the first 13 companies globally certified to produce security keys that comply with FIDO2 standards. They offer two main security key models: the compact and economical VinCSS FIDO2® Touch 1, and the modern VinCSS FIDO2® Fingerprint, equipped with advanced features.

“MoMo is planning to further integrate FIDO2 and other VinCSS solutions into our internal tools to optimize our operations,” Mr. Ngo Viet Phuong Khoa emphasized.
